Chairmain Harnett: See you in Greensboro!

By Paul Yeager

I spoke with Chairman Harnett a short time ago while he was at his daughter’s soccer game.  There are a few thoughts he wanted me to share with all of you.

First of all, Chairman Harnett is looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the NCGOP State Convention in Greensboro this weekend.  Yes, he will be there!

Chairman Harnett urges all of us to not give up, and stay engaged.  If you have canceled plans to attend the convention, please reconsider.  If you are thinking of changing your party affiliation, please do not do so.  When we give up, the forces we have been fighting against win.  Do we want that, or do we want a party that represents ALL of the Republicans in the Tarheel State?

Stay engaged, and help Chairman Harnett build the NCGOP that we deserve to have.

Let’s connect, in Greensboro and elsewhere, and continue to work together to make NCGOP great!

Chairman Thanks Supporters

By Hasan Harnett
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge each and every person that stood by, defended and supported me as the NC GOP State Chairman during a most interesting but tumultuous time. Your time, energy, treasure and overall support, are appreciated beyond measure.
It can be hard to believe that a 747 can fly based on size and weight. Although gravity is a strong force that pulls everything down toward the earth, remember, the law of lift is a superior force used to overcome the force of gravity to achieve flight. Lift occurs if the force on the bottom of an object is greater than the force of gravity from above.
You are powerful; continue to lift each other up and break free from the gravitational pull. Be the powerful engines that you have proven to be, employ aerodynamics to lift your 747 plane 35,000 feet above the earth’s atmosphere and move with escape velocity.
I am in the process of reviewing all options for next steps and will communicate my plans soon.
With love and gratitude, we THANK YOU!

Chairman: Eyes On The Prize!

by Hasan Harnett

Hasan-Harnett

Dear North Carolina Republicans:

In view of the many distractions that exist, we must remember to keep our “eyes on the prize” and remember the primary reason we are here – to keep Republicans in office and get Republicans elected.

Republicans can be justifiably proud of progress made in North Carolina since our party took control of the Legislature and many offices of the Council of State in recent elections. We must not allow that good work to be undone, and must continue to build on that.

We also must resist the temptation to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Perhaps your favored candidate did not win the primary, or the winner has in the past done something that offended you. Please do not let that cause you to aid the opposition by your silence or lack of positive action.

Let’s all get out there and do what each of us can to elect and re-elect Republicans in the Great State of North Carolina!  We must each do all we can to support Republican candidates in our cities, counties, districts as well as statewide offices.

Links to a list of contact information for our candidates for statewide office is below.

Best regards,

Hasan Harnett

Chairman’s Response to yet another public press release by the NCGOP General Counsel and Central Committee

Chairman’s Response to yet another public press release by the NCGOP General Counsel and Central Committee

Today’s Date: 4/6/16

Hasan-Harnett

Dear Executive Committee Members,

The NCGOP Central Committee is charged with the mission of creating an effective Republican organization in every political Precinct in North Carolina. With this in mind, there is much work to do in order to get our precincts, counties, and districts ready for a battle royal against the Democrats in November. Unfortunately, witch hunts won’t help us achieve our organizational mission and neither will wild goose chases rehashed by members of the NCGOP Central Committee and staff. The overall effect; however, will effectively drag down the NCGOP, Republican candidates and judges running for office. I know that there are many who want to move forward and many who stand in this with me for the sake of the NC Republican Party.

To my surprise again, the press, media, and many of you have received yet another public press release from Tom Stark, NCGOP General Counsel, and the NCGOP Central Committee; they continue their desire to publically tarnish the NCGOP, my name, and reputation in an effort to remove me as the NCGOP Chair, for the sake of what? I have tried for the past few weeks to resolve this privately to no avail.

For the last time, let’s set the record straight.

Alleged Hacking: After I called the convention on March 7, 2016, Dallas Woodhouse the NCGOP Executive Director, without any authority to do so, kicked me, the NCGOP Chairman, out of the databases, website, and my own email. I tried for many days to resolve these disputes internally, but Woodhouse refused. Dallas Woodhouse sent me an email on March 8, 2016, stating that the NCGOP Vice Chairwoman and my email were disabled because of a security threat to our website. After being shut out of the databases, website, and my own email, NCGOP Vice Chairwoman Michele Nix and I were contacted by Ken Robol, the website coordinator for the 3rd District NC Republican Party, telling us that he can “hack” into the website. As shown in the attached PowerPoint, neither Michele Nix nor I solicited the hacking of the NC Republican Party website and never ordered anyone to hack into the website. The allegations that I ordered Ken Robol to hack into the website are completely false and untrue.

After text message conversations (see screenshots) with Ken Robol, Robol immediately went to Tom Stark, NCGOP General Counsel, to make a statement saying I ordered him to hack the NCGOP website. Ironically, the organizer of the NCGOP Central Committee meeting to censure me was Kim Cotten West, the NCGOP 3rd District Chairwoman, the same district where Ken Robol resides. I would call into question the statement from a person who “hacks” websites as a credible source for the truth. As you know, I released screenshots of the messages between me and Ken Robol eleven days ago (see attachment) as I have nothing to hide and did nothing wrong.

Tom Stark falsely stated that I used the term “entrapment,” I did not. Furthermore, making the claim that using the word “entrapment” somehow states an admission of guilt is absurd, especially coming from a legal professional.

(and the only evidence of a “hacking attempt” is one person’s “sworn statement”, supported by no other evidence. – Editor)

Alleged Funneling: Tom Stark also falsely implies that my setup of an EVENTBRITE account means I was trying to funnel money away from the party. Nothing could be further from the truth. After requests had been made to the staff to create an EVENTBRITE page for a fundraising event, a sample EVENTBRITE account was set up. The sample site was not set up to collect and there were no intentions to collect money through this sample account. Its purpose was to demonstrate the idea of what was needed for the upcoming fundraising event. Days later an NCGOP staff member finally created an official EVENTBRITE page, which was necessary for ticket purchase for the fundraising event held on March 20th (raising over $21,000 for the party). The NCGOP State Convention Eventbrite page was set up by the NCGOP staff and money was never directed away from the NCGOP.

I have been more than willing to converse and talk about how we move forward, however, the conversations, as you see in these messages from Tom Stark, NCGOP General Counsel and members of the NCGOP Central Committee, are all one sided. Let us remember the examples of illegal and unethical behavior displayed by Dallas Woodhouse, NCGOP Executive Director, as he forged my name to a fundraising letter and violated the Plan of Organization in said letter by effectively endorsing a primary candidate. He also sent a call to convention, which he has no authority to do according to the Plan of Organization. There is a history of questionable choices in his past, which speak to the integrity of his character. However, we are talking about me, in a situation where our NCGOP General Counsel and NCGOP Executive Director went to the press first. The NCGOP Central Committee through the help of the NCGOP staff went public nationally with the attempt to censure the NCGOP Chairman through a “no vote of confidence resolution”.

It is extremely unprofessional and unethical for our NCGOP General Counsel to continue communicating accusations like this about a leader in our party. His statements are inflammatory and baseless while being laser focused on this attempt to take me down as the NCGOP Chairman; he fails in his duty to represent the interest of the party as a whole. His outspoken behavior is a disservice to our party, used to try and persuade members to take sides.

I pray that our Party can get past this madness, none of us are perfect. Yet, even with these untrue allegations against me, attacking my character, and good name, I still believe we are all on the same team. We must come together and stop the NCGOP witch hunts so we can go win against the Democrats in November. Many agree that there is so much at stake for this year. If the NCGOP Central Committee is not steadfast on its mission of creating an effective Republican organization in every political Precinct in North Carolina then what are we really doing? Anything outside of the organizational mission is a distraction. Distractions, like NCGOP witch hunts and wild goose chases rehashed, will cost us the Presidency, Governorship, our majorities in the legislature, and will put our entire delegate at the RNC in jeopardy.

Please contact Tom Stark, NCGOP General Counsel, and the NCGOP Central Committee members to demand that these public attacks stop (see below for a list).

Chairman Cancels April 9 ExCom Meeting

The following is an email from the Chairman.  For the purpose of spam prevention, email addresses have been redacted.

From: Hasan Harnett
Date: April 4, 2016 at 7:09:19 AM EDT
Subject: New Update(s): April 9th Executive Committee Meeting Canceled

Dear Executive Committee member,

Overview
  • The Executive Committee meeting on April 9th is canceled
  • Do not sign the petition for the April 30th Executive Committee meeting

I understand the concerns about having a conflict with district conventions, but my main premise for pushing forward was to put the divisive infighting behind us so we can move forward in beating Democrats in the fall. Consequently, I am canceling the Executive Committee meeting on April 9th and am asking that you not sign the petitions to call for a special meeting on April 30th.

Likewise, I am a volunteer Chairman and must work for a living to provide for my family. The NCGOP staff was already notified on January 27th of my schedule. I am traveling out of the country on business starting April 23rd thru May 1st (see the date and time stamp below). The only Saturdays in April I am available are 4/2, 4/9, and 4/16 of which all of these dates have district conventions. Due to scheduling constraints, we should not have our next Executive Committee meeting until after the State Convention.

It is also apparent that the Central Committee is attempting to schedule an April 30th Executive Committee meeting. The sole premise of the Central Committee’s petition for the April 30th meeting is to remove your State Chairman during an election year. Who likes junk mail? The statements in the letter you received are nothing more than bald faced lies. Furthermore, the claims in that letter have no factual basis whatsoever and is why most of you have placed these petition letters in either your recycle bin or underneath your junk mail. If you already signed it, please email me requesting your signature be removed from the petition, and I will make sure it is eliminated. For anyone still contemplating, I urge you not to sign the petition for the April 30th Executive Committee meeting.

Instead, let us focus our energies on the ongoing District Conventions and upcoming State Convention. We are moving on because there really is no time to waste. We have an exciting year ahead of us and today is a new day. While there are a number of issues to address, I believe we can find the appropriate solutions together.

All of your feedback is greatly appreciated. Feel free to call, email or text me should you have additional thoughts.

Respectfully,
Hasan

Chairman Harnett Gets Standing Ovation at District 3 Convention

This video is a little rough, and the audio is less than wonderful, but the message is LOUD AND CLEAR!

It’s been a pretty quiet weekend here at NC4Hasan.  A lot of folks were off at District Conventions like the one Chairman Harnett spoke at in the video above.

Check back soon for a new releases.  I am not at liberty to disclose them at this point, but new things are coming.  Perhaps on Sunday, and certainly on Monday.

Why I Became a Republican

On June 6, 2015, Hasan Harnett became the chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. But he wasn’t always a Republican…

My story is probably a good example of how the Republican Party can and is growing by reaching out to different communities in North Carolina and across the country… and succeeding.

I wasn’t always a Republican… In fact, I only formally became a Republican much later in life… or rather, I didn’t realize I was a Republican until much later in life. I grew up poor in a rough neighborhood and in an area that was majority Black. I grew up where it was expected that you were a Democrat because of the color of your skin. Everyone was, and no one thought a thing of it.

But growing up, I was also taught two things: work hard, and get an education. I was told that would lead to success.

Later on in life, I met Dr. Tim Johnson. Dr. Johnson founded the Frederick Douglass Foundation and was the first African American Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. He was one of the most influential figures in my life in terms of becoming a Republican and a staunch advocate for strong conservative values in urban communities in North Carolina and across the country. He recognized that you couldn’t just show up in black communities every four years and ask for votes… He stood on Republican principles and his faith, and didn’t shy away from them in these communities. He advocated for less government regulations, stronger families and expanding opportunity for the people, not growing government… and those messages are powerful messages that cut across all political lines.

“I grew up where it was expected that you were a Democrat because of the color of your skin.” — Hasan Harnett

His life story and his spirit inspired me to research the differences between Democrats and Republicans. And once I did, I realized that the Republican Party best represented the values that were instilled in me from a young age… It turns out that the reasons I worked hard every day and fought for every dime in my paycheck are the same reasons why I am a conservative.

Sadly, he passed away in February. But throughout his life, Dr. Johnson was committed to growing the Republican Party… and so am I. And I think that my election as chairman shows that so is the rest of the North Carolina Republican Party.

Since becoming chairman, I have made it a priority to reach out to minority communities and share my story and passion for conservative values. I know where these communities are coming from and the box the liberal media tries to put them in.

By focusing on expanding our party, we can ensure a permanent Republican majority for North Carolina. Our approach needs to be outwards in order to spread the message of freedom to more communities across North Carolina and invite more people in to our big tent.

“Throughout his life, Dr. Johnson was committed to growing the Republican Party… and so am I. And I think that my election as chairman shows that so is the rest of the North Carolina Republican Party.” — Hasan Harnett

Chairman Reince Priebus and the Republican National Committee in conjunction with state party organizations across this country have laid out the most aggressive engagement program in the Party’s history, and we’re going to continue that effort and make sure we’re not just showing up every four years and asking for votes. Like how Dr. Johnson helped me realize I was a Republican, we’re going to establish trust and relationships with these communities in a way the Republican Party hasn’t traditionally done.

I’m excited to get to work!

Message to NC Republicans

Dear Republican,

I hate that this internal conflict has boiled over and gone public. I have tried for many weeks to get this resolved privately. My name and reputation have been attacked. I am a volunteer Chairman. I sacrifice my time, honor, and fortune for this party. I want nothing more than it to grow and be a successful organization.

I have been met with opposition from the day I was elected. People have been scheming and working against me, but I am not going to sit down and shut up. The establishment wants to limit involvement in our party and shut out the grassroots so it is easier to control.

The current defamation of my character started with a dispute over who ptxhas authority under the Plan of Organization to set the delegate fees. The Plan of Organization authorizes me to call the convention. A reasonable person would assume a call to any meeting includes time, location, and cost. My call to the convention did just that.

As a candidate for state chairman, I pledged to lower and eliminate the business session delegate fees. I am a man of my word, and I will fight for ALL Republicans no matter if they are rich or poor. In an effort to make me a liar, the Central Committee tried to raise the fee from $75 to $90. The Central Committee made a “recommendation” for the fee to be $90. All Central Committee meetings are recorded for secretarial purposes. I ask that the discussion over the $90 “recommendation” be released to the Executive Committee so that they can hear the truth for themselves. It was a recommendation. They do not have the authority to set the fees and have never in our party history set the fees.

After I called the convention, Dallas Woodhouse the Executive Director without any authority to do so kicked me out of the databases, website, and my own email. That is when things went public. I tried for many days to resolve these disputes internally, but Woodhouse refused. After being shut out of the databases, website, and my own email, Vice Chairwoman Michele Nix and I were contacted by Ken Robol the website coordinator for the 3rd district NC GOP telling us that he can “hack” into the website. As shown in the attached PowerPoint, I did not solicit the hacking of the NC GOP website, and I never ordered anyone to hack into the website.

After text message conversations (see screenshots) with Ken Robol, Robol immediately went to Tom Stark NC GOP General Counsel to make a statement saying I ordered him to hack the NC GOP website. Ironically, the organizer of the Central Committee meeting to censure me was Kim Cotten West, the 3rd district Chairwoman, the same district where Ken Robol resides.

I repeat, I never solicited nor ordered the website to be hacked.

All of the emails, screenshots of conversations, and details are listed in the attached PowerPoint.

I hope that we can move past this. I pray for Dallas Woodhouse and the Central Committee. Even with the extreme untrue allegations against me, I still believe we are all on the same team. The truth must be released, and the public can decide for themselves.

Chairman Harnett’s Statement to WCQS

Hasan Harnett e-mailed WCQS the following statement:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – As Chairman, my vision stands for a bolder, energetic and reinvigorated North Carolina Republican Party. That is why I ran and became the elected Chairman back on June 5th, 2015.

Since then, your Republican Chairman has worked consistently in the vast areas of fundraising and helping Republican Candidates get elected. Your Republican Chairman has met with county parties and elected officials inside and outside the state. Despite having a full inbox from time-to-time, your Republican Chairman takes the time to answer your questions, find solutions and call you back.

Your Republican Chairman is not perfect; however, he is a hardworking leader.  He is also a devoted Christian; a sincere and honest fellow. Even though some of the Republican Anonymous may disagree with the vision God has given your Republican Chairman, he remains steadfast in serving the full North Carolina Republican electorate and the greater Republican community despite no access to my NC GOP emails and resources.

With this in mind, many of you will say “Why are Republicans warring with each other during a presidential year?” Some of you will say “Who likes to see Republicans brought up on bogus charges?”  Others will say “Who likes to see Republicans eating their own?” Your Republican Chairman does not, and likewise, you should not either.

Nobody in our party likes to see fellow Republicans, including your Republican Chairman, brutally assaulted, kicked in the mouth, and gagged by unfounded truths. Most of you will say “No volunteer in our party should be treated like this.”

Your Chairman stands against and denies all allegations of hiring a hacker. Even though the Republican Anonymous may continue to mount their fiery darts, your Republican Chairman will continue to pray, “In the name of the Lord Almighty and Jesus Christ, STOP.”  You are only hurting all of our chances of winning in November. For these reasons, your State Chairman is still willing to push all these matters aside for the greater good of the party. Your State Chairman and duly elected officer calls for unity for ALL Republicans in North Carolina.
